Realtor Eric Kodner Joins Instructor Faculty For The National Association Of Realtors “At Home With Diversity” Program

LaPointe, Wisconsin, February 26, 2010 – Wisconsin Realtor and real estate broker Eric Kodner with Madeline Island Realty in LaPointe, Wisconsin has been certified by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) to teach the At Home with Diversity (AHWD) Certification course.

Kodner joins a select group of fewer than two hundred NAR-Certified instructors in North America who are approved to teach the coursework for the At Home With Diversity certification. The course addresses issues of diversity, fair housing and cultural differences. As a result of this appointment, Kodner becomes Wisconsin’s first real estate licensee to become certified as an AHWD instructor.

"Cultural competency is no longer an exotic concept in real estate”, said Kodner. “There is a growing need for all of us in the industry to adopt better practices in serving consumers with varied cultural backgrounds.”

NAR developed the At Home with Diversity course in 1998 in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The day-long certification course is designed to equip NAR's Realtor members with the tools and knowledge they need to expand homeownership opportunities for the growing number of culturally-diverse buyers entering the housing market.

Kodner is a member of the National Association of Realtors Equal Opportunity – Cultural Diversity Committee and the Wisconsin Realtors Association Equal Opportunity in Housing Committee. He is also a real estate educator and serves as Education Chair for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS).
